Yet to be demolished... on St. James Boulevard

This one is still standing. I am not sure what it is, it has been boarded up for some time. A remnant of "Old Newcastle"?
I expect it is only a matter of time before the wrecking ball comes along.
In the background is Newcastle's Chinatown and City Centre.

Pitt Street

We had a walk around the local area earlier this month, while we were in the false early February Spring, which has given way to the stormy unsettled weather of today.
Here is the new style Pitt Street, with a big empty space where the emergency housing used to be.
Newcastle City Council's emergency housing for families and young people who were in dire need, has been totally demolished.

St. James Park in the background. Also Newcastle University Business School.

Having a schedule involving weekly hospital visits gives me a chance to see what is going on in Leazes Park on a regular basis.
Reently we found this "Thing" we first thought was a rat. Rats like to scuttle across the path and jump up the wall into the vegetation on the other side.

It did look as if it had been in the sewer (where all self-respecting rats live).
Unfortunately the following week it had gone. Or been kidnapped. By a overzealous litter picker or antique toy collector maybe.
If you look at the first picture you can see the tower of Queen's Court in the background. Please visit there for latest news from Herbwormwood
